    Newbie Subtitle Problem

Hi, I'm a newbie in encoding movies. I have an avi movie that already have a chinese subtitle in it but instead i want to put an english subtitle (that i already have) on the movie coz i don't read no chinese. Can anyone explain to me how to put the english subtitle please.

    Thanks a lot

No way to take off a subtitle if it is "burned inside" the movie. The only solution for you is to display your other subtitle at another position.

You can 'display' subtitles (with a player that is able to do that, and there are quite a few, BSPlayer for example) or you can re-encode the movie with tha subtitles in the image frames: You can do that with VirtualDub (you also need VirtualDub subtitle plug-in, and something to convert your .srt subtitles in .ssa - SubStationAlpha format, eg. SubtitleWorkshop). However, you can not delete the chinese subtitles, so it can look a bit messy.
