    ogg/ ogm

ok i think i am understanding this right but is ogg/ ogm just another form of an audio file. It said in that guide that it can replace an mp3, so can i just encode with gordian knot using an ogm file. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

ogg vorbis is a better format than mp3 - thats true

ogm is the container format like avi - again much better than avi (it can contain subtitles, multiple soundstreams or chapter infos for examples and has better error correction)

gk does not afaik handle ogg

still you could create your avi with gk and mux ogg + avi later on with virtualdubMOD

i read that guide but i am having trouble getting the correct vdub mod. do you have a link to the correct spot where i can download it or what the name is. Is it worth all of the extra effort in your opinion? thanks.

i create nothing but ogm these days thus my advice is: go for it

in this guide you could find a routine how to create ogg audio streams and mux them with existing avi files. of course i put some links into the guide as well to neccessary tools like besweet and vdMOD.

        hope it helps

            VirtualDubMod_1_4_13_1.zip

is this the correct download cause i downloaded the mod and it gave me an error when i tried to start vdub, the error said

the application failed to start because libpng.dll was not found. reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

also will all players play a video with ogg audio

              that's perfectly fine

on that very same sourceforge site you will find those *NEEDED DLLs* for download as well.

get them and vd_mod should run

where do i want to place those needed-dlls once i get them. Inside the folder i extracted the vdub 1 4 1 3 1 to? or in the regular virtual dub folder in my computer?

same folder the mod version is in

you might, though, store vd_mod as well as the new dlls in the same folder where your old vd version is located *g*

Extract them to your vDub mod directory.

Edit: didn't see your post there uncas

Just make a copy of your currently working VDub directory, then extract all your vdub mod files to it. Should work.

Unless I'm stupid and don't know what I'm talking about. Wouldn't be the first time.
