As yet I can't post to the Off Topic section so at the risk of having the wrath of our Moderator coming down on my head, I thought I might mention this XP Critical Update which may have implications for those on WinXP. A few days ago, I experienced a drastic slow down on launching applications. I couldn't understand it. Premiere which normally loaded up ready to go in 4-5 seconds took nearly 50secs to load. Photoshop which loads almost right away, took almost half a minute. And the problem wasn't confined to Adobe products - everything had slowed down, including the Windows boot-up. I set my virus checker on the trail; did all the clean-ups I could think of (defrag/reg clean/purge folders, etc) to no avail. I eventually discovered the culprit: Windows XP Security Update 811493. I uninstalled it and everything is back to its usual lightning speed. Just thought this was important enough to get out. I think the update relates to Messenger which I avoid like the plague.
