Has anyone tried to convert a full 2 hour dvd into a one cd (870mb) conversion? if you have...was the quality of the video good? cuz ive been doing 2 cd conversions about 1.7gb worth of video and the video is great but i would definetely love a 1 cd conversion that still has average video quality. ive been using divx mpeg-4 codec at 1300kps at 640x400 resolution w/ mpeg 3 sound at 96kps. is there something that you could suggest that i change in my settings to make for the best quality video possible for a 1 cd conversion? ive tried and the video comes out really bad...should i change the resolution or the kps? ive tried low res high kps and the video quality was horrible.

you can not compare one 2h rip to another one.
two many factors come into play when conversions are done:
- aspect ratio
- light/dark film
- little/much action
you could get very decent results from 1cd rips and movie length between 990-120 minutes.
i'd prefer this:
- resolution of 576 x XXX
- divx5
- lanczos resizer
- ogg audio @ quality factor 0.50-0.70
- maybe convolution3d for smoothing -
