Append AVI segment, different data rate

I have a DIVX movie that I'd like to add a 3 second title graphic too.

I don't want to re-encode the movie, just add at the beginning a graphic. Slight problem is I can't remember what I used to encode my main movie. Is there any way I can find out? and attach my little new segment?

Once I convert my title graphic avi to the same format as my main movie, I'll be able to join them.

Open the avi in VirtualDub, look in file information for video 'frame size', 'fps'(frames per second), and audio 'sampling rate'

      I've already tried that,

I open my large movie file, set video to full processing and add a logo filter which covers the whole screen. I then save the first 3 seconds of this using DivX 5.03. Audio set to direct stream copy...

However, when I try to append the original main movie I still get a message saying video stream has different data formats.

Is the original avi encoded with DivX 5.03 as well?
Other than that... 5.03 was buggy as hell, you might want to try another relese.

I'd suggest you encode the movie in V Dub with the new Divx 5.0.5 codec and then encode your clip with the same codec and data rate, just make sure you don't forget the data rate if you decide to try this method.

When you check the File info in V DUb, it does not give the exact bit rate you used for the codec, so unless you can get that clip of yours to be the exact bit rate of the Movie you want it on, then this I think is the only option, only take ya an hour or so.

            Hope this helps
