    5.02-5.05 problem

I am having this problem with gordian knot. I have usually used divx version 5.02 to encode all of my movies. THis resultted in no problems. I could get a movie to end up at 1400 mb with no problems. I tried divx 5.05 and even when i select a 2 cd rip at 695 mb i only end up with a 700 mb movie

i have tried it with 5.03, and 5.04 and i had the same problems Does any one have any sugguestions. Ok thanks

Did you double check your codec's bitrate setting and make sure it was properly adjusted to the bitrate GordianKnot gave you?

You should be able to go to DivX in the start menu and select configure codec or something similar

i'm guessing that you are talking about decoder configuration. Which part do i want to change. I am not seeing anything having to do with bitrate. Thnks for help

in gk's bitrate tab you can select the size per cd (i.e. 700 or e.g. 800mb) and you must define the number of cds - choose between 1 and 3.

Right, so if i select a 2 cd rip at 695 mb I should get a finished file somewhere around 1400 mb. The problem is that even if i select 2 cds the finished movie will only be 700 mb.

certain titles wont reach 1200+ mb in size because they are saturated when using standard settings.

                which title is it?

panic room is only one example.

                      this is it?

The final movie came out exactly 862,018 kb

Should i just say screw it and use 5.02, Has any one noticed a massive quality difference between 5.02 and 5.05? Do you have any other ideas why i could be having this problem

i always use divx 5.05 or xvid for better results... but you should check this too: the audio bitrate that you are using (i always use between 128 and 160 for better results) and check the file size next to the part where you chose how many cds, because that part tell you the actually file size... how long is the movie you are trying to encode?

                            whats xvid
