mpeg to xvid aspect unwanted ratio change

I am using virtualdub to convert some mpegs of tv shows into smaller xvid files. The mpegs are 320x240, but after going through virtualdub the output xvid files are 352x240. It doesn't apear to be cropped vertically, so I assume it is being streached out a bit horizontally. I used this guide for the xvid encoding in vdub.

Originally the video played back fullscreen with almost no balck bars on the top and bottom in wmp, and now the xvid file has widescrren look when played in wmp. The odd thing I noticed was in zoom player the original video had a widescreen look when played with "source aspectio ratio", but when switched to "derived" it played fine full screen. although with the xvid "derived aspect ratio" still shows the file widescreen, I can force it to the correct aspect with force full screen or custom.

Is there something I am doing in the conversion that causes the extra 32 pixals to be added? 320 width is perfectly divisable by 16 and 4 so that shouldn't be a problem right?

I am using a may build of xvid, latest vdub , and my version of ffdshow is from late april.

edit:WHen i open up the source file in vdub, it lists the size of the file as 352x240, but quicktime player lists it as 320x240. So the problem seems to be virtualdub??
