    Bad Audio Sync Problems

Need a little help. I have my .vob's on my hard drive. I'm trying to make a 700mg avi. I've tried everything and still get audio sync problems. Below is a list of programs I have tried.

    FlaskMpeg
    SimpleDivx
    DVD2AVI

SimpleDivx came close but the sync was messed up at the end.

    Any Ideas?

    Thanks!

oh yeah I'm running a Barton 2500+ with 512mg of Corsair.

Your problem is solved... When encoding DivX in FlaskMPEG do not encode audio at the same time. When encoding with Flask use the Decode Audio Mode and select 44100 KHz and select PCM compression for Audio. After you have encoded video you can compress and multiplex audio with video in VirtualDub. Set Video->Direct Stream Copy and Audio->Interleaving->500 ms of audio before video start-> Interleave audio every 500 ms. Don't forget to set Audio->Full Processing mode. After you have done that select compression->MP3. Save AVI.

A slightly different suggestion as to how to best avoid your audio/video synchronization problem:

      1) Convert to .AVI using Flask v.0.594PX3 (improved conversion time versus "plain vanilla" 0.594 - and less prone to lockup), or MPEG Mediator
      A) Using DivX v.3.11 codec (Fast Motion 910kbps, keyframe every 10 seconds) or other DivX codec, or Xvid codec, or 3IVX codec
      B) Using PCM (uncompressed) audio at 48,000Hz (Maintains synchronization of audio and video)

      3) Load .AVI into VirtualDub
      A) Set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copying"
      B) Set "Audio" to "Full Processing Mode"
      C) Under "Audio", click on "Conversion", select "44,100Hz" (or 48,000Hz, if this doesn't present a playback problem for you)
      D) Under "Audio", click on "Compression" select "MP3", "44,100Hz" (or 48,000Hz), "96Kbps" (or higher)
      E) Save revised .AVI with new filename

IMPORTANT! Do NOT change "interleaving" to "Every 500ms" - Leave it at its default setting of "Every 1 frame".

        Thanks

Thanks for the replys. Only problem I'm having is that in Virtual Dub I don't see a selection for MP3.

If, in fact, you don't see anything listed as "MPEG Layer 3":

Download (click on DivXDigest link at the top of this page) and install the Radium (hack of Fraunhoefer) .MP3 codec - then rebbot your system...
