How to add subtitles???

I will tell the same but written down a little different and hopefully there will be some light

* Get the plugin for Virtual Dub called Vobsub 2.08 at divx-digest

* you have to install the plugin in the plugin directory of Virtual Dub

* Now you are able to select this plugin-in
(in VDub) video ---> filters ---> add (now choose the plugin you need)

* Select your *.IFO file from the folder u have saved the movie and Click "I have stripped the Vob files and crossed my fingers" button and wait about 5 mins.

Et voilla

Kaiser-Soze reply assumes u have a .IFO file, presumably one ripped direct from a dvd! it confused me also as I only had a .sub file and so abdul's response was more relavant for me!

The one that interests me most: is it possible to add subtitles to an XVCD (created from an divx without subtitles, which i download from the net)???

using vobsub you can put subs into your avi while transcoding.

whats wrong with taking a look at the guides?

i have nothing against guides, but you have to know where to find them, find the one that suits your job AND understand them!!

And that's not always vey easy!!

syncronising the subtitles!

Hi,
i am using virtualdub with the subtitlrer filter and the frame server with Tmpeg to encode my vcd's, for but some strange reason i can't get the subs syncronised to the avi!
Is there a program for syncronising somewhere out there? I would also like to check the syncronisation before launching the encoding process (in order to avoid any suprises after long long hours of encoding !!)
