    ffdshow is not perfect

I have xvid movie(cartoon) with built-in subtitles and when decoding with ffdshow there is problem with subtitles.(they are mixing), but with xvid decoder everything is fine.

i have never had any problems with subs in my ogms using ffdshow

how did you create the file?

and maybe using a better container such as ogm or matrsoka would be the best advice.

First of all I didn't create this file. I downloaded it "seedtest.avi".
      I don't remember from where.
Besides, ffdshow can't play partially downloaded .avi-s

What decoder can anyway? As far as I am aware, you need to rebuild the index of or direct stream the video file in order to be able to view it. You will not be able to do it otherwise, using FFDShow or not.

you cant compare those two things!

            avipreview is not an decoder

the decoder itself is not to blame when partial files wont play and so far FFDSHOW is the best decoder/playbackfilter i know!

I know that avipreview is not decoder, but I only wanted to say that when I'm using xvid's decoder there is no problem with partially downloaded files.
