audio out of sync

hi can somebody help me.i have a xvid avi file.the video frame rate is 23.976.but i need to convert it to 25.000 because i have subtitles for 25.000.i convert the frame rate to 25.000 but the sound is out of sync.when i load the movie into virtualdub it says that the audio improrer vbr is.what is this?what can i do?

Perhaps it would be easier to convert the subs to 23.976. I'am pretty sure it's possible, although I can't even begin to tell you how.
