Adding Subtitles to Anime?

How do I add subtitles to raw anime without subtitles on the DVD? I have scripts, but what do I use for timing, adding subtitles and encoding?

Try the program Subtitle Tool , very easy to use. The timing and stuff have to be done manually but the program helps you with it.

It depends what format your scripts are in and what u want to encode in, but this is what i use:

timing: Subtitle Workshop and Sub Station Alpha, i think most fansubs use sub station alpha as well cos its awesome

adding: since sub station alpha uses ssa format, i use the original subtitler filter for virtualdub.

encoding: u guessed it, virtualdub

I can never get a border around the subtitles when I load the .ssa file into virtual dub. Why is this?
