it is as said a VCD so you need an mpeg 1 decoder to play it.

it also may be that you downloaded the VCD as an image !!
if it has an ending like .bin you have to burn that to cd first,
or mount it to a virtual drive with Daemon Tools 333 and play it from there.

telesynch just tells you the method how this movie was pirate....eehhr captured.

      scm, smr

most files end with a .avi, or scr.avi, but they still wont play. sometimes they have a smr in the beginning, and thee amm site, per say, that i am receiving them from, doesnt state how to uncode them for viewing. all are video types of files. nothing i do seems to work. now what?

use Gspot to check the file .... if it has an ****.avi ending
and post here what it says or better do a screenshot and post it here.

now it says on real player, "Cannot play back the file. The format is not supported." and on divx it says"Failed to open file. Please check that it is a valid AVI or MPEG-4 file." I am running Divx 2.1. does that have any bearing on this? What is GSPOT? Sorry, but I am kinda new to this!!! Thanks

                To werewolf666

I'm rather surprised that no one's bothered to mention the distinct possibility that you've downloaded fake and/or corrupted files...

i thought of that already, but i cant of d/l 20
+ corrupted or fake files in a row. the only problem i have is when there is a telesynch, smr, vcg, scr, or teg in the name of the file where it wont play on either real player, Divx, or WMP. I have dozens of movies that are good except for the ones listed above!

                    to setarip.....
I have been thinking of a fakefile

to werewolf.... that is what I want to make sure.... if it is a proper avi anyway gspot is an analysis tool to determine what codec was used for
                    video and audio .

download Gspot from here to check your file just install it and load your video(s) in it. Gspot will tell you what codec you must have to watch them, if they are not fake! use the link.

just an analysis tool but it will tell you what codecs to use,
or if you have to install codecs.

as player I recommend BS Player from the softwaresection of this
                        site.

it is far better than realplayer or WMP 9 it is free
and you can find it in the software section of
