Problem With Virtual Dub / DivX

Ok, I have an uncmpressed video clip that I want to convert to DivX, and when I go to do it in Virtual Dub, it says this to me:

    Cannot Start Video Compression:
The Source Image is Not Acceptable.
    (error code -2)

I turned the error function off, so it would encode even if there was a problem, but it still says that...

          1) Load the video file into VirtualDub (or one of its many variants) or NanDub

          2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

          3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (BOTH video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

Ok, here it is... <a href="http://vicvega.evil.cc/avi_info.jpg">Screen Shot From Virtual Dub</a>

Although I have no problem using my own web space to upload to, I have seen people tack attachments to their posts on here.

Can you only attach on the first post?

              1) Load the file into the most recent version of either VirtualDub or VirtualDubMod

              2) Set BOTH "Video" and "Audio" to "Direct Stream Copy"

              3) Select "Check for errors"

              4) Select "Mask bad frames"

              5) Save with a new filename

Just curious - How long is this video - and what player did you use to successfully play it?

There is only an option called "Mask Frames" I tried that, and it was the same exact file size as the original, and when I tired to encode it, no go. (it says that same error as before)

The Length is 7:03, and I plaed it in Windows Media Player, and Virtual Dub too.

"it was the same exact file size as the original"

That's to be expected - the bad frames would only be "masked", not removed...

"Thank you for helping me, it is appreciated."

                    As always, my pleasure ;>}

By the way, just for kicks and giggles, see if TMPGEnc will accept it for conversion to MPEG-1...

First of all, I have to say that I am INCREDIBLY amazed that TMPGEnc did what I instructed it to do , and secondly, it did it!

                      Thanks yet again Seta Rip!

Now, what was that so-difficult-to-convert 7:03 video all about?

                          Heh
i bet ya its becos of the resolution, divx requires width of 4x
                          and height 2x

i see ur source is 318x225, both height and width is not of the above multiples.

crop ur move, or resize if u wanna use virtualdub or nandub to encode in divx.

I'm just curious to know what the tiny .AVI was (e.g. title, subject, topic)...
