    xvid conversion trouble

    Hey all. This is my first post so i suppose that makes me a "noobie" or sumthing.

    Ive only recently upgraded my computer to a standard where i am able to edit video files etc (still lacking hd space though), so im still getting to grips with things. ive succesfully used tmpgenc to convert a few divx files but now im up against xvid and im totally clueless on how to convert this into mpg so i can burn it to a vcd for use in my living room dvd player.

    the file in is encoded with xvid, here are the summary details of the file:

    Image
    ---------

    width = 592 pixels
    height = 256 pixels

    Audio
    ---------

    duration = 01:47:40
    bit rate =128kbps
    audio format = Lame MP3

    Video
    ----------

    frame rate = 23 frames/second
    data rate = 110kbps
    video sample size = 24bit
    video compression = XVID

    Ive read posts that say to extract the audio using vdub or something else i cant remember the name of, but when i visit the site for these files i can only find binaries and source code, no executable files. do i need another program to load the binary into or something like that. youl have to excuse the lack of knowledge, as i said, i am a "noobie"

    if anyone could help me with this i would be highly appreciative.
    also, if u imagine you are talking to a 12 year old while explaining what to do, that would be helpful also as im still not familiar with a lot of the tech talk u guys use.

    Link to TMPGEnc

    This handy program will allow you to open the XviD-compressed file (providing you already have the required XviD codec installed) and use its built-in wizard to create VCD-compliant files. You can then use a burning software, such as Nero, to create VCDs from these files.

    Cheers.
