first let me say ive had good experience with this prog in the past, though ive only done one other DVD rip conversion to divx. it was the fast and the furious, and it went very well, ended up being 716mb, fit on a cd, and was a bit less than dvd quality, but very good.
now im trying to do Phone Booth. ive ripped it, and theres 4 VTS_03_*.VOB files (* being the number it is, 1-4) i had DVD decrypter on "select main movie files" and it ripped VTS_03_0.IFO, and as i said, VTS_03_*.VOB <--(1-4) so i check em in winDVD, and its fine, it got all of the movie. the first 3 VOBs are like 1.04 GB (funny it seems every dvd i rip the biggest files are like exactly that size) and the last one is 609 MB. ive tried the conversion like 4 times, but every time (and i did make sure i loaded up all 4 VOBs) it goes fine until i come back later, open the avi, its 374 mb, quality is real nice, but the movie ends at 55 min, instead of the actual end, 81 mins, as printed on the dvd box. it ends where sutherland says "come on stuart you know if you had the chance youd take me down" and "what if i told you im on the fourth floor..." and it ends about there. i found out this is at about im guessing 2/3--3/4 through VTS_03_3.VOB.
why does it quit here? around this area there arent any graphical or playback errors or problems with the VOB in winDVD, so it cant be a file problem. everything is fine (vid/audio sync, picture aspect ratio, quality is nice, etc) but it always seems to cut out right there. ive tried under "configure plugin" in the divx configure options the 1 pass, and multipass, although i think i remember with FNF i did 1 pass. but nothing makes any difference.
im REAL sorry for the long post, but i just want to be as detailed as possible. i hope someone has experience with this prog, i found it and use it because progs like that gordian knot are so packed with settings and are too complicated and it confuses me..
ALSO: could someone tell me what the difference between 1-pass and Multipass is? i noticed theres the option of 1 pass, mutilpass, 1st pass, and multipass, nth pass. <---what is this? could you like make it do 10 passes? what is the point?
thx a ton to all who help
