best is dr. divx !! as it is not free, consider buying it if u want best hassle-free quality!!
    gordianknot is also cool !!

Browse our blog posts to learn how to convert AVI to MP4, convert MKV to MP4, convert MOV to MP4, play AVI files and more.

Download Gordian Knot for free. Gordian Knot started out as a simple bitrate calculator for DivX encoding but has evolved to become an integrated package or tool for the entire process of DivX/XviD encoding.

DVX is the best, from what ive tested, it always has the latest support for all codecs and the latest encoding software. The only drawback is you have to download Microsoft's .NET Framework (23MB)
but if you can get over this, its a very powerful tool.

EDIT: GordianKnot is a good beginner program. But the file sizes never come out accurate. DVX is dead on everytime so far with me.

Why pay for something that is easily matched by FREE alternatives?

              Riwa,

I strongly suggest you give GordianKnot and/or DVX a try. These tools are free, and from what I have read on the forum, are more trouble-free than their paid/commercial counterpart.

              Regards.
