ERROR: VirtualDubMod found this Error: "Video compression error: An unknown error occurred (may be corrupt data). (error code -100)"

i got the same error and i'm lost too!
the error message seems to hint that the d2a file creation is wrong but only encoding to xvid is a problem.
also this error is only on 2pass encoding, 1 pass and test works.
tried frameserving via AVS and via VFAPI and no go.
tried reinstalling xvid codec, but no go.
tried using vdub, nandub, vdubmod, nothing.
finally managed (with no problem, using AVIUtil)
conclusion = either someone who knows what's happening can help, or try using AVIUtil.

fixed my problem, don't know exactly why what i did fixed it.
in virtualdub(mod), when choosing xvid, i pressed the default and then reset all xvid options and tada it works again...
      try reseting xvid options
