if you give me a "e-mail address"
i can send you a little utility ( 6kb): it's a "fourCC changer" named Avic, or try to download it from the web...

this utility show you the fourcc used, and you can change them

        Ciao

if tmpegenc crashes or stops when encoding from a xvid file, yes, u can change the fourcc to divx or set the "directshow multimedia file reader" priority in VFAPI plugin under environmental settings, above the rest.

            Help
I have done what you suggested.
The Fourcc tool told me it was Div50 so I changed it to MP41 and ran it through tmpgenc. The screen was black but it transcode it.
Unfortunately the resulting mpg was black and I cannot get the original avi to play or to change it back to Div 50.

            Now what do I do!!!

Answering my own post I have typed in DX50 and changed it back.
I have now managed to run the file in TMpgenc by downloading other codecs but I get error messages after 23%:

Index of scanline out of range (480)

              &

Illegal floating decimal point calculation order.

What do these mean and can I do anything about it?
