5.1 Sound with DVX

Ok, I use the ac3 file, assuming that I have 5.1 DVD's.
But do I use the same audio setting as I did before according to your guide? I obtained only stereo before, using ogg conversion.

I treid using the original ac3 files but the result is only stereo.
And yes, they are 5.1. For instance the original Matrix Reloaded DVD is 5.1 for sure

did you mux the ac3 with your avi using virtualdubMOD or how were your 5.1 files created?

I wasn't sure how do I do that. I thought you mean using the ac3 file as source Audio track in DVX, instead for instance a *.lst file. Should I mux the files separately with VirtualDubMod? There will still be just one file in the end, won't it?

However, I just tried the 5.1 quality option in DVX Audio track configuration, using OGG vorbis. Everything seemed to be fine, sounded good, perfectly synchronised, but I cannot hear the voices of the characters. I repeat, except that, the sound is good. VIrtualDub sais, in the FileInformation section, that there is 6 channel sound. As soon as I deselect the 5.1 feature and leave the default options, there are also voices and everything but only 2 channels.

What should I do?

i'm not sure if 5.1 ogg vorbis will work!

mux the original ac3 files with your avi and it should work

muxing ac3 is just the same as muxing mp3 or ogg: usevdMOD for the job

I'm not sure how to mux the files.
I have VirtuaDubMod version 1.5.4.1, that came along with the SysPack. It has no Audio section in the menu

you'll be able to add any (audio) stream you like

Ok, I managed to mux the files. I could do it in 3 ways, with VirtualDubMod, with Nandub and with DVX during the encoding process.
My ac3 files look like this: VTS_01_1 AC3 T01 3_2ch 448Kbps DELAY -79ms.ac3

I think they are 6 channel, right?

However, the resulted avi file, opened with VirtualDub, says in the FIleInformation section that it has 5 channel sound.

Why is that? Why not 6?
