i was trying to divx a movie thats in english, but the subtitles did not appear when they spoke a foreign language. i want to put only these permanently into my movie. Can someone please help me how to do this? I'm using vobsub and gordian knot.

Putting them permenantly means you'll have to burn them into the video, (unlike using vobsub which you have to play along with your video player -- therefore, you have two independant files playing at the same time).
Basically you have a video file, and a subtitle file (usually mine are .ssa). You can get a subtitler plugin for this subtitle extension so you can insert the subtitles onto the video. (wow repetition).
After you insert the subtitles, just encode with whatever bitrate you'd like, and they'll permenantly 'burn' the subtitles into the video.
