Does anybody know of a good way to convert a dvd i downloaded that is in my harddrive as a bunch of VOB files into a couple of svcd's?

I'm sure that there is various "all in one" programs that do this in a better and easy way but I didn't test them, so I would use DVD2AVI + TMPGEnc + Nero
_Create .d2v projects of your vobs using dvd2avi (in "Audio menu" select the track you want to decode with each project)
_Open each project and the corresponding audio track in TMPGEnc, press "Load" and open the corresponding svcd template, then encode the project
_After encode all the projects burn the resulting mpg2 videos with nero's svcd wizard
To add subtitles I use Subrip + Subtitle Workshop +MaestroSBT + Winsubmux
(Before to go to Nero)

<li>_Rip the subtitles of any vob using subrip, save it in sub/srt format</li>
<li>_Convert the srt/sub files to ssa format using Subtitle Workshop</li>
<li>_Use MaestroSBT to create subtitles for each SVCD</li>
<ol>
<li>_Load the ssa file in MaestroSBT</li>
<li>_Set in Rendering=>File Format=>Script ".sub submux"</li>
<li>_Set in Timing the fps of your source and output file</li>
<li>_Press "Generate"</li>
</ol>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>_Use Winsubmux to join the mpg2 with the subtitles</li>
<ol>
<li>_Load the mpg2 in Winsubmux</li>
<li>_Check "stream #" in the "subtitle" section and load the .sub file generated with MaestroSBT</li>
<li> _Chose SVCD in "Multiplex" section</li>
<li>_Done.</li>
</ol>

I don't know to much about create SVCDs and I know that there are better tools and guides for this, search in the vcd/svcd section of this forum for more accurate info and better assistance.
