    How to fix corrupt or broken xvid movie??

    Hello ,

    how can I fix a broken or corrupt xvid movie ?

    Is there a program or do you know a name ??

    by broken do you meen audio is out of sync, video plays in wierd colors or won't play at all etc. please be a little more specific.
    Virtual Dub or one of it's mods is a must, IMO, when working with avi files

      I can't play the file , when I try to open the file I get an Error and it says , Can't open the file, it could be corrupt

        To invoid every misunderstanding ,

        I don't ask for an illegal copy of a program or something in that nature ...

        A name of a program which I can buy and can fix my problem
        I hope I didn't violated any rules by asking this question above

          if you don't have Virtual dub go to the software section on this site and d/l it. it's free and an excellent tool. try to open the file, if the file opens click on the file tab and file information and let us know what it says. i've fixed some unplayable avi's just by running them thru Vdub with direct stream audio and direct stream video.
          ps. just curious are you sure it's an xvid avi ie did you check it with Avicodec or Gspot, both free and excellent programs

            sorry can't do it BECAUSE I fixed it !! yes yes yes
            I couldn't play any movie any more and when I looked to the proporties there was standing Xvid, I took an earlier recovery point of windows xp and everything is back working at the moment and I want to tell you that I very apprecied your help
            and learned a few new things
            But I still don't know what caused it
