DV to AVI divx or xvid

Does anybody tried to save a captured DV movie in avi DIVX or XVID?
Each time I'm trying to do that, the result contains many horizontal lines...in case of movement....

Anybody has an explanation for this or a cure for this problem?

you're dealing with interlacing lines

try a deinterlacer like tomsmocomb or smartdeinterlacer
