Is that error on Flask 6?
    If so,try the older 0.594.
And check that the settings are correct on both "Output format option" and "Global project option" tabs.

        well, personally I hate DIVX 4, I love 3.11alpha.

Have you tried using compatability mode in Windows XP?

This should (hopefully) solve the problem.

Not necessoraly, Try the compatability mode (or use latest flask if availible)

Setarip may be able to help as we all admire him!

Yes i'm using home edition.... =(

but i tried compatability mode and it WORKED!!!! yyyiiiihhhaaaa

so on to the strange thing with 4.12 codec.... I know it compresses better than 3.x codec but this is very strange... I uses advanceBitCalculator and it told me to use 931kbit to get a 700mb file. I know that it's for low-motion conversion so i used 1100kbit and got a 645mb file?!? So is there any program to calculate 2pass conversions with the 4.12 codec?

I told u compatability mode would work!!!

NO, DIVX 4 does not give more compression! DIVX 3.11alpha gives the best compression and a touch less quality than DIVX 4

Same prob, but not an issue of Xmpeg

I have this same problem, but it is in WinXP PRO, using Xmpeg 4.2a, DivX 4.12. I have tried the compatibility settings, using every possible option, but still get the same error.

I am not really sure, but I think it is the log file that is giving the error. I am trying to do the 2-pass method, but it never works. As soon as I tried using DivX 3.11, low motion and without the compatibility mode, everything started working.

I really would like to use DivX 4 though, I like the quality better with it. I haven't done a whole lot of DVD ripping, but I have noticed the differences between the codecs.... I guess it's personal preference.

I'm running XPPro and FlaskMPEG .6. I tried all the compatibility settings but none worked. I get that same message. If I don't choose an MP3 codec to compress audio Flask works fine.

Moment I choose an MP3 codec (Lame, Radium, etc..) Flask croaks with that awful error message.

I still believe it has to do with the registering of MP3 codecs somehow, haven't figured it out yet though....

                      Okay,

Downloaded .594 version and installed. Selected Divx 4.12 and Lame MP3 128, 48,100Hz, stereo.

Kicked it off and it worked fine. No problems. Went back to Flask .6 and Flask Xpert edition, still no luck. I'm really starting to hate that damn error message.....

This tells me the problem is not with the MP3 codec but a setting somewhere in Flask, an ini file or something. Don't know Flask that well enough yet to start picking it apart but at least maybe someone else is already there???

I REALLY would like to solve this problem with Flask. I've gone back to DVD2AVI and VirtualDub because of this and for my use Flask makes things go faster....

Someone throw me a rope down here, I've fallen into the well of despair......

One last vestige of hope before going to bed.......

I copied Flask .594 AVI OUTPUT (AVIOUT.CM) file from the .594 Flask into Flask Xpert. In Flask Xpert instead of choosing OPENDV thingy as output, I selected the AVI out instead.

Went ahead and selected DIVX 4.12, 128, 48,100HZ stereo.

Kicked off the conversion and walaa, it worked like a charm. Set it back to the OPENDML thingy and that DAMN error message pops up, Oh I really hate that one....

The error is in the OPENDML thing-a-ma-bob output.

The water is rising in the well, my kingdom for a rope !!!!

WinXp mp3 codec is limited to 56 K and will be used for mp3 encoding unless you change its priority in control panel - sounds icon. Give the codec you want to use a higher priority as the standard one and the problem is gone.

I set the Frohenhoffer codec to priority one, still failed with same error message.

Thanks for the information, still looking for a solution..

What I actually did was install the Radium mp3 codec and in control pannel I did not change the priority but deleted the codec Winxp is using. Perhaps this is a bit risky, perhaps first a backup of your system partition. It worked for me.
