Divx on dvd players

There are a VERY FEW special standalone DVD players ("KISS" is one) that are capable of playing DivX-compressed .AVIs...

I did a search on MPEG4 yesterday for someone and came up with a retail site advertising the Panasonic DMRE100 as being such but checking the manufacturer's website seems only to play that from SD media!

look for elta, xoro, umax, yamada, philips, yamakawa

But all of them using "nearly the same" decoder-chips...

AFAIK, there is only a hand full of different chips on the market and none of them is able to do stuff that even a "old n' cheap" 1GHz PC could do !!!

Dont wanna start to complain about thier bugy firmware...
