Hey I'am maybe new on this board but not new in DV-land

    But here is the answer:
The DIVX / AVI is right side up on my PC
The DAT / VCD file is up side down on PC and dvd-player

    That is was I meant

"Hey I'am maybe new on this board but not new in DV-land"

I wasn't questioning your knowledge - merely trying to keep focused on your INITIAL post (before you and "techno" started to put on the boxing gloves as a result of his "curious" and mostly irrelevant posts). If, perhaps, my two questions appeared simplistic to you, so be it. I've found that with MANY of the questions/problems posted to these boards, the most obvious answers are sometimes overlooked - so I make a point of asking the basic questions first, before going off on irrelevant tangents ( as I appear to be doing right now ;>}).

Based on this simple process of elimination, it's apparent that the problem lies with NERO (How's that for stating the obvious?). Have you checked Nero's Windows Registry entries to see if there's anything that might refer to "Flipping" (It might look similar to this one found on Win98 systems?:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Scrunch\WMVid eo\Vertical Flip Packed YUV - for which you have to set the DWORD value of this registry key to 1, if your onscreen videos are upside down)

In light of the fact that many of the poster at these boards have indicated that they're using the same version of NERO as you are, and none have indicated this unusual result, I can only speculate that you have somehow altered a system setting that only impacts NERO, since, if I understand you correctly, this problem doesn't arise when you use TMPGEnc to convert and NERO merely to burn.

        to Setarip
Next to my military background I also have this very peacefull hobby..... Normally I only read this kind of forums, you can learn a lot of it and give you new ideas. But now my need for help was that big....

Back to my problem I jumped into my registry didn't find the entry you mentioned so corrected it with your input.

I've to test this new setting.
You also helped me to look in an other direction with my problem, because I use several other programs on my PC I like to test the whole thing also on my laptop maybe it is only my computer causing problems.

        Tx again

            same problem

K... I Am new at this and i do need help.
the only thing i'm 100% sure of is that i don't know anything.
I do have a hunch though. Seeing that I'm only running Nero to encode my vids it has to be the culprit of my upside down video.
These are the steps i took.
Downloaded..eh-hem. Acquired my video. and burned it using nero 5.5.7.8. also have that svcd plug-in thingy.
Video plays beutifully before and after burn only upside down.
Question? Is it possible to encode twice? If so could that screw it up?

After a the discussion in feb. I thought setarip has a good point to start from "the registry"
So I deinstalled all crap to burn and decode video's with
After this clean-up I installed Nero again and burned a perfect VCD (not upside down)
So my advice is clean up your PC, it helps and know for sure.
No discussion possible about that !!!! Cheers
