How to covert .WMV to .MPG?

I tried converting with TMPGEnc but had problems. First the conversion did complete but it tool 20 hours for a 18MB WMV file. The video came out good but after 10 seconds the audio just stopped. Is there a way to do this so I can make a VCD from this file? Thanks.

So the audio has to be converted on it's own? I thought that TMPGEnc did all the work. Those steps look confusing.
Is this why the audio in this clip I wanted to convert stopped after about 10 seconds?
