    Morgan M-JPEG codec

I use this codec to capture realtime with 85% quality. This is good for my Celeron 366. Procesor usage is around 25%.
Then I convert the movie with DivX.
My PC is not able to realtime capturing with DivX without drop frames and to get the same size as with Morgan MJPEG.

Problem is, that codec is a 60 days trial. What then? I downloaded a new version and installed, but I still get same messagge: "Trial period expired"

Is there any other codec as good as Morgan and for free?

I had the same problems as you.

Try to capture through Virtual Dub : AVI Capture option ... using either Mpeg-4 Divx OR Divx 4.12 codecs using CPU capability at around 65% ...

You will only have dropped frames every 10000 frames or so if you dont mind which is a good capturing ratio.

This is a little confusing. What settings I should use in DivX 4.12 codec to get only 65% of usage on my 366 celeron?

You can also use Indeo 5.04 in "fast compession"-mode with very high bitrate.

          concerning mjpeg picvideo codec:

tsunamis filterpack (among everything else one should need) contains a tool, that might help you

a link to tsunamis pack can be found in my guide
