    NANDUB not giving true codecs??

    Hi there.

    I thought I will use nandub as an experiment

    In nadub:

    DIVX = Fast motion
    MSMPEG4v2= Low motion

    Is this correct?

    If I encode a video into DIVX in nandub, it encodes as low motion and if I use MSMPEG4v2 it encodes into low motion.

    Why is this??

    I thought nandub does both and makes the quality better in 2pass regardless what codex is used.

    Please help

      yes, I am sure!

      DIVX 3.11alpha goes like this:

      MSMPEG4v2 = Low motion
      MSMPEG4v3 = Fast motion

      nandub, for some strange reason, uses low motion no matter what settings I use in 2pass.

      YES, DIVX codec is installed!

        i am just a little bit confused:
        if i record with freeVCR i can choose between the microsoft codecs (ms mpeg4 v1/2/3), divx4 and divx low & fast motion so i thought that divx just replaced the mpeg4v3 codec, which i cant use

            "Basically DIVX is better than MSMPEG4v2 and 3"

            No - DivX v.3.11 alpha is essentially comprised of the unlocked versions of MSMPEG4 versions 2 and 3...

                  hm seems that it would be better to ask that question on another board:
                  THE in-place to be for everyone interested in DVD conversion.

                  tell us your results (as i am quite sure that i dont capture divx when i capture with mpeg4v2 as i have another option to capture divx low mo and divx fast mo too, and settings and results are also different for these codecs (at least in freeVCR, no experience with VirtualDub/Nandub in this case, as i have problems with lost frames)

                    at this divx 3.11 guide released by doom9 he explains that mpeg4v2 in nandub should be the legal codec (is this still divx???? lol seems like anyone really knows)

                      Yep, I solved the problem by myself!

                      It is stupid:

                      For some reason, nandub just didn't want to work in 2000 so I tried in 98SE and it works!

                      The thing I don't understand is that, I gave uncasms a vid (fast motion) and he said "try using 2pass to improve the quality". So I did it but it hasn't improved much, any ideas?

                        send me part of your raw material some day and i'll give it a try.

                        since i dont see ANY specs here at all and above all cant judge the original file, i wont spent my time with guess work.
