    Save as .asf ?

Does anyone know what program to use to save in the asf file format?

M$ says asf can contain any codec.
A wmv file can be just renamed to asf and it would work (according to m$).

but how to record a asf file with divx encoded vodeo for example?

the reason i want to do this is for playback on a asf (mpeg4) compatible stand-alone dvd player.

    thanks for any suggestion.

I believe I read recently that there is an early version of VirtualDub handles ASF but I'm sure someone else will suggest using an alternative.
This isn't a learning curve ... this is b****y mountaineering!

the old vdub versions just read asf files, can't save as as far as i remember...

      thanks for the reply

      and another question:
does anyone know what mpeg-4 simple profile actualy is? I understood that it's just a mpeg4 specification that contains one video and one audio stream, but thre might be some frame size and bitrate limitations...
