    No Audio Decompressor???

im pritty new at converting and i just got a dvd burner last week and since then ive devoted alot of my time trying to figure out how to convert formats...

ok... this is want i want to do:

i have here a .avi file (xvid video and ac3 audio) that i want to strip and uncompress the audio and save it as a .wav file using virtualdub, but every time i try it i get an error saying:

"No audio decompressor could be found to decompress the source audio format."

ive tried the AC3 ACM Decompressor v0.7, but still i get the same error. ive also tried nandub, and still same thing....

im doing all this cause im trying to convert the avi file to dvd, and from what i read the best way to do it is to use virutaldub to strip and uncompress the audio as a .wav, then use TMPGEnc to make the .m2v using the original avi file as the video and the .wav file as the audio, then use ifoedit to create the .vob files and whatever then use nero or TMPGEnc DVD Author to burn it onto a dvd cd...

am i doing this right? do i have to uncompress the audio to have it synced with the video when i use TMPGEnc?

ive also tried the same steps on another .avi file i had that was also xvid video and ac3 audio and everything worked fine... what am i doing wrong??

thanx for the help in advanced... i never like asking for help, but its already been a full week of me tyring to figure it out, but i cant seem to get it right....

    thanx

im not too sure exactly how to do it with virtualdubmod... i have it, but i dont see any options for uncompressing the audio and saving it as .wav...

i tried SVCD2DVD and so far i think it works... i think it used BeSweet to do it...

ill write how it goes when its done

Open the avi in virtualdub/nandub and right away goto "File/save wav"

You will end up with your sound de-multiplexed but with a *.wav extension. Just rename the file with an *.AC3 extension.

Now, create your m2v file and when done use IFOEDIT like you did to create the vobs. Import m2v and ac3. You will end up with the original AC3 sound. Burn and enjoy.

I got it working with this beauty:

try and install that one, don't scare of the "XP signature" note, it's allrighty!

After installing it, the issue in virtualDub(mod) is resolved.

Bow before me, the allmighty ripper!

                      Good evening,

Simply tried to download Néodivx 9.3 to extract the Ac3 sounds in the parameters Tools.
