Converting avi/xvid file w/tmpgenc

Until recently i had no problems but lately ive been trying to convert my avi/xvid movies to MPG-2 so i can burn them on DVD's i'm using Tmpgenc and Mainconcept programs but about 1 hour into the process my computer will crash , i've reinstalled my window's xp but im still experiencing this , any suggestions ?

Maybe the file is broken...

Check if you can watch it (from beginning -> end) !!!
