Need help encoding DV avi to xvid

Hello threre, I am frameserving with Adobe Premiere into Virtualdub and want to encode my camcorder DV avi's into Xvid.

I wanted to know if anybody could reccomend a set of settings, ie. 2 pass, etc, etc.

I have visited Doom9.org's website but his guides are based on using Gknot's software.

I was wondering if there was more general guide for xvid and virtualdub?

if somebody could give me some suggestions
