    widescreen avi to dvd

I read from another post to use 'crop' in TMPGenc but I can't find this option anywhere. I'm trying to convert a widescreen avi to mpeg2 but I can't get it to do it without messing up the aspect ratio. Can someone please tell me how to correct this? Thanks!

don't use any "crop" function... look around in tmpgenc where you will see options that allow you to choose "16:9 display" and "full screen; keep aspect ratio"

sorry i cannot be more specific, but i do not have access to the program at the moment... but use those settings and you should be fine.

    good luck

ok i am at home now so here are more precise instructions:

these settings should make sure your video plays at the correct aspect ratio

        1. run tmpgenc.. the project wizard should come up you MUST use the project wizard if you want a dvd-compliant video.

        2. make sure you choose either "PAL 16:9" or NTSC "16:9"

        3. click "next". under "aspect ratio" click "16:9 display" .click next

        4. click "other settings". click the "advanced" tab

        5. under "source aspect ratio" click "16:9 display"

        6. under "video arrange method" click "full screen (keep aspect ratio)"

these settings worked for me, and i have converted around 40 wide screen movies from divx/xvid to dvd. if you need help with other settings then check out the guides at www.doom9.org

        good luck
