Annoying sound after AC3 and AVI mux

    Hi everyone,

I use vob2avi for ripping the AC3 sound and use Virtual Dub or Avi Mux for multiplexing.

But these programs work well for some movies, bot not for some. After the multiplexing process the sound become crippled and annoying also the video file's playrate seems faster than normal.

Do I have to do some extra setting in these programs except from audio preroll and interleaving (160-160)?

And does the length of this movie effects the multiplexing because even the sound is clear some audio synch problem appears in most of the final avi files?

    Thanks already for your help.

For use with VirtualDub-AC3, UncasMS posted what proved to be valid adjustments to both the Preload and Interleave, predicated on the AC3 sample rates, as follows:

192 kbps - use 80 ms (both preload and interleave)

384 kbps - use 160 ms (both preload and interleave)

448 kbps - use 128 ms (both preload and interleave)

    Let us know of your success ;>}

      About AC3 streams...

      One question:

Which program are you using for AC3
      extraction?

I always use DVD2AVI, but knowing
the correct samples rates for AC3
streams is not enough: you got to insert
the correct delays (in ms) for muxing the
video streams using Nandub (or Virtual
Dub Mod), and that can be very tricky,
because the sign given by DVD2AVI
to AC3 streams after extracting is
always wrong, so try positive and
negative values (especially with 6 channel- AC3 streams)...
