    Hello,

The creation of a DVD from a file avi imposes certain rule to keep:

    1. to put the source to the good resolution (VDM, Divx or Xvid)
    2. separate the sound of the video (VDM)
    3. encode the track audio in digital dolby (AC3 machine and Besweet)
    4. encode the video in mpeg2 (TmpGenc)
    5. gather all elements for the creation of the structure of the DVD (ifoEdit)
    6. engraving of the DVD video (Nero)

    It is my method.
Of course if someone to other ideas don't hesitate to post it here.

    To soon

the entire process can be done with 2 tools: "tmpgenc" and "tmpgenc dvd author"

this link should guide you through the steps: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/arch...avi_to_dvd.cfm

        good luck

          Try the following:

          1. Convert the AVI (DivX or Xvid)/mpeg file(s) to a DVD compliant mpeg-2 file(s) using "TMPGEnc" or "TMPGEnc Plus". Use the DVD template (NTSC or PAL) form the "Project Wizard" to help you accomplish the task. If you have an mpeg file that is already DVD-compliant, then skip directly to step 2.

          2. Then use "TMPGEnc DVD Author" (different than "TMPGEnc") to author the newly created mpeg-2 into a DVD-related file structure (.IFO, .BUP, .VOB). As an alternative, you can use "DVDLab" to author as well.

          3. If the combined filesize of the project exceeds 4.37 Gig, use "DVD Shrink" or similar transcoding program to compress.

          4. Use "Nero" or similar burning program to burn onto a DVD (r, rw) disk.
