Xvid audio not working

im trying to convert some XVID files to mpg in TMPGenc, and when i preview the mpg, there is no sound

Open the original XviD file(s) in "VirtualDubMod" ("File" > "Open Video File"). Then go to "File" > "File Information" and post everything that is listed in both the video and audio sections of the dialog box, or post a screenshot of the information.

heres all the info for one of the xvid files.

The audio stream in the XviD is Mp3. Try converting the VBR Mp3 to a WAV in the original XviD. Do the following:

1. Load the file into VirtualDubMod

2. Under "Video", select "Direct Stream Copy"

3. Go to "Streams" > "Streams List" and right-click on the audio stream name and select "Full Processing Mode" and hit OK.

4. Then go to "File" > "Save As" with a new filename.

After that, try importing the "New" AVI into TMPGEnc for conversion to mpeg. Do a "Test" output for about 3 minutes or so and see if the audio is present.

i tried what you said to do but the sound goes after about 30 minutes of video.

I have this same problem. Followed all the suggested steps with VDM and Nandub, but I loose sound after several seconds.

What am I doing wrong?

Read CAREFULLY, as the following is NOT identical to the post by "ormonde":

Converting .AVIs with VBR-MP3 Audio for use with TMPGEnc

Using VirtualDubMOD to Convert "VBR" .MP3 to Uncompressed .WAV

1) Load the .AVI file into VirtualDubMOD (a different program than the standard VirtualDub)

2) From the "Video" dropdown menu, select "Direct Stream Copy"

3) From the "Streams" dropdown menu, select "Stream List" - and rightclick on the audio stream, then select "Full Processing Mode" - then click on "OK". Rightclick on the audiostream again, then select "Compression" and make certain it is set to "No compression (PCM)"

4) From the "File" dropdown menu, save .AVI with a new filename

Question

Upon loading in VDM it prompts to rewrite header... yes or no.
and under your number 4 from the file dropdown menu, do I select "save as", then save as an avi. (I think regular VD has save avi, but not VDM) Thank you so much for your help
