    macroblocks on nandub

Finally I have created a divx that doesn't have macro blocks around (outside) the individuals head or body. The fast motion looks pretty good and clean, however the one problem I am having is that macroblocks are now appearing within faces and large areas of black.

Faces have detail, but it appears that the macroblocks cause alittle face/body distortion.

The black areas are the same?

Any ideas on which settings should be adjusted.

Thx (especially those who have helped me up to this point)

Try increasing your bitrate, your minimum allowed bitrate, curve compression, or/and the min. gauge.

Thx for the help enchanter. I didn't want to make the movie onto two cds, but I eventually had to break down.

Increasing my bite rate was really the only way to remove them. Thx again.

      The copy looks great!!!

        No problem.

If the movie is mainly a fast-action type, it's really hard to make do with low bitrate. Anyway, glad to help. ^_^

          NO no no!

use fast motion 6000 bitrate cause it will fit on one cd (depending on the length of file)

it doesn't use 6000 in every scene/frame. It uses as much as it needs in every scence/frame to a max of 6000.

This should work cause I get near DVD quality on my vids using fast motion (captured source from TV channels)

From my experiences with fast-motion, a lot of detail is lost (as I stated in another post) and the result does not look crisp to me. Could be just me anyway.

I would personally use Low-motion anyway.

Use DivX-Low-motion because it gives moire details. For the blocks in big areas with low contrast (like the large areas of black) you should use a good player like sasami2k (<- the best player I know) or "The Playa". They have options to increase the video-quality. It takes a little of the cpu-power, but if you don't have a real low-end-machine it should work fine.

Very true but if the source is VERY high quality then you will not lose detail. I have done it all the time and it works like a charm and also compressing the size at the same time!

                ftp.imbetterthanyou.com/pub/incoming/techno/lb-my_way.mpg

MPEG2 = 72.2 then try compressing it with fast motion. See what results you get!
