Just to clarify, WMA is Windows Media Audio. It's an audio compression format similar to MP3. It does provide outstanding quality at low bitrates when compared to MP3, but MP3 is more widely compatible with audio devices and editing software so I prefer MP3.

I think you said or meant: "...Convert WMA to Mpeg or AVI."

Did you mean you want to convert WMA to MP3? That can be done with a great variety of both free and not free software.

Since MPEG or AVI is a video format, you obviously cannot convert WMA audio to a video format. That would be pointless being how you only have audio data in a WMA file.

Maybe you meant that you have a video that is WMV-Windows Media Video (not WMA) ??? and you want to convert it to MPEG or AVI. Please clarify.

        Hello,

The two aspects are likely, but also confused.
WMV to MPEG video (mpeg1/2) or WMA to MPEG audio(mpeg laayer 3).
It is necessary to say that I excelled the audio, because the conversion wma to mpeg (mp3) and wma to ogg exists.

But, as you say it it deserves clarify

        Thanks you DrinkOrdie

                Hello,

If the software that I proposed to you upstream doesn't satisfy you, you can use Nero 6.
You won't forget to verify that the plug in is present in the index of Nero.

OK, now I'm confused. ousman8 wants to convert ((mva?)) !! ?? to MP3?

I am not really sure what kind of file ousman8 has. If I knew, his question should have been answered before now.

I still think ousman8 means that the file is WMA. (Windows Media Audio).

I usually avoid the WMA format, but if I am stuck with a WMA audio file that I need to convert, I first convert WMA to WAV.

The only program I have used to convert that annoying WMA format is this:

Hi-WMA to WAV available at this link:

After you convert the WMA to a WAV file, you can use the wav for making an MP3 or burn the WAV directly to an audio CD.

In any case, the WAV file will be much more useful than the WMA file. Most any audio encoder will use the wav file.

The WAV file will be OK to use with most programs. The WMV file will NOT be accepted by most encoding or CD burning programs.

I have no preference, nor any interest in the software. It's just that it's the only thing I've been forced to use recently, and it worked.

You're better off once the WMA is converted to WAV. Then you can do just about anything with it.
