avi seems choppy

Hello all,

I am having no problems encoding files, but when I play them back the video is not smooth. About once every two seconds the video hangs slightly and resumes. Video and sound sync is good and stays matched throughout file. I believe it may have something to do with frame rate but am not sure. If any one knows how to fix this problem, I would greatly appreciate any assistance.

Open the original AVI file(s) in "VirtualDubMod" ("File" > "Open Video File"). Then go to "File" > "File Information" and post everything that is listed in both the video and audio sections of the dialog box, or post a screenshot of the information.

Try running one of the files through a program called "AviFiXP". Also, if you downloaded these files originally, you never know what to expect.

I checked for errors and AviFiXP found none. Do you think it has something to do with the fact that I have almost 7000 key frames? Maybe if I put a key frame at the beginning and one in the middle it would alleviate the choppiness.

Oh and I didn't download these files. They are DVD backups. I am using a program called imToo DVD Ripper.

Ahh, that was it. I had the key frame to set at every VOB ID marker. That way the sound always stays synched but the picture halts for just an instant. You may want to pass that on. I'm sure others are having the same problem. Thanks for the help, ormonde.
