audio problem

hi guys!

i have an xvid avi, which seems to have a corrupted audio stream.
i used vdubmod to try and demux/save a wav file, but both failed, due a corrupt sample

my question is, is there any app that i can run a scan on this avi and possibly repair/conceal the corrupted section?

ps: the file is in ntsc format (as far as i understand, the 23,976 fps and vbr audio suggest this), and vdubmod gives me a vbr error when opening. perhaps this is also part of the problem

1) Load the original video file into VirtualDubMOD

2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (BOTH video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

with no way of demuxing the audio stream or saving a wav, i guess theres nothing that can be done....

The "File Information" box does not include anything that indicates a corrupt audiostream.

1) Have you tried to PLAY the video? If so, does it play properly?

2) Do you have an .MP3 codec installed, other than the one "builtin" by Microsoft?


For kicks and giggles, try "dragging and dropping" the XviD-compressed .AVI file onto an already opened GoldWave (audio editor)...

1) of course. all my players say its corrupt (BSPlayer, Zoomplayer, WMP etc.)

2) yes, i have the Radium Mp3 codec installed. i just installed the Lame Mp3 codec to see if it may have been that. doesnt seem to have changed anything.

gspot tells me that my fraunhofer mp3 codec can decode the audio stream, but there seems to be a problem with the directshow filters. no specific information though (no combination of filters can be found, etc).

i just got a shareware version of goldwave and, voila 'cannot determine file type'...

at the moment, im updating directX, perhaps thatll work, who knows.

interessant...

i tried vlc player and it opened the file! the file played for a few minutes up to said corrupted sample and died.

im giving up now.
