Sound there one minute, gone the next

    Hi

I have a couple of avi files which i want to convert to dvd format.

When i play the original avi files in media player i can here the audio, however once i encode to dvd/PAL the sound is lost. I've used GSPOT which informs me the audio is in ac3, i've used vdubmod and extracted the audio into a wav, then used tmpg but still no joy.

Intrestingly I've just tried to play the wav file in winamp and it tells me there's no codec installed. I have ac3 v0.7b installed.

As you can no doubt gather, i'm a little confused!!

    Any help much appreciated

In TMPGEnc, under the "Environmental Settings" "VFAPI plugin" tab rightclick on the "Direct Show Multimedia Reader" and increase to the highest priority or one or two positions below the highest priority. This will allow TMPGEnc to open a properly encoded AVI file with AC3 audio. Then import the original AVI file(s) into TMPGEnc and encode for a few minutes save the output in order to check to see if the audio is present.
