Video speeding up and slowing down

Hi im a complete newbie to divx Im using tmpgenc to convert divx to mpeg1 for vcd when i burn with nero or vcdeasy my video occasionaly slows down and speeds up again any help would be great.

Does this occur when you're watching it on your television via a standalone DVD player?

Yeah I have 2 different dvd players minoka and aiwa and its the same in both.
Audio seems to be ok ie not skipping but video slows down then speeds up vert quickly usually back in time with the audio.

Ive tried differnt blank cds as well same problem.

Since it's happening on two different standalones, the problem would appear to be with the burned CD. If available, try using a different CD burner (Since I don't believe that TMPGEnc would be the cause, nor should NERO, since you're merely using it to burn the CD in VCD format).

Ok thanks for the info Ive already tried it with aopen cdr and a sony ill try them with a yamaha at 4x speed instead of 8x.

I've also got the same problem and I believe it's not the burner and not nero. It might be TMPGEnc. I've burned alot of allready encoded mpegs into to VCD but when I convert a divx with TMPGEnc I get that problem.

i think ive got it! in tmpgenc, under the video tab, change Rate control mode: to Automatic VBR (cq_vbr). This has solved the problem on mine
