Why are some films splitted into 800Mb? I think this is a SVCD-rip (.mpg). Is there any way I can burn this on a CD?

SVCD/VCD uses a different filesystem that stores about 800MB on an 80min-cd-r.

So do I just burn them as regular data-cd's with whatever burning-prog?

No, you will have to use nero and burn it as a SuperVideoCD (SVCD).
