    Same bitrate all the time

I am using DVDx 1.8 and the Divx mpeg4 video codec, and no matter what bitrate I use I always get the same file size and the same quality. Can somebody please help. I want to improve the quality / size to fit on 2 cds.

dont change the bitrate let the tool deside for itself ok. Cause if you let it the same rate all the action scenes will be in bad quallity. The bit rate is different per scene cause in one scene they only talk and in the other scene there is a lot of shootin. oh and another tip. put keyframe on 1 ok. that makes the filesize a little bigger but the quallity improves

I trust you will get even better quality using the 2-pass mode of 4.x codecs.

Definatly 2-pass is the way to go(although I use DivX5.0 with Bidirectional Encoding and Use GMC enabled ) along with Mp3 audio, I have always gotten good quality from this (esp. with 2-CD rips).
