Adding subtitles to the .avi file.how???

How do i add the subtitles of a movie to the .avi file??????

i want after the whole procedure (ripping, encoding, converting,or whatever...) to create an .avi file , which i can play it through powerdvd, media player. microdvd (or any ther player...) .That .avi file should contain all the info of the movie : the image, the sound, the subtitles. In other words, i want at last to have only one file to write in the cd and not 2-3, which would be an mp3 file for the sound and a txt file for the subtitles except the .avi file.

i use WindowsXP and i have Xmpeg 4.31 alpha and flaskmpeg and virtualdub.do you suggest any other program i should use in order to have the result i want?

I would like to suggest you using GordianKnot with DivX 3.11 and nadubs SBC encoding. In GKnot you can do almost everything you need. You can crop you can resize you can add subtitles and you can calculate. Try this program and see if it works.
