Divx encoding pls help

Hi i'm a bit new to this how do you enocde a mpeg or avi file through divx?

I rem i had a file from somewhere of a film in avi format it was 'Valetine' it was 600mb and the quality was excellent how can i get that?

A program called "VirtualDubMod" will suffice for this purpose.

In addition to what "ormonde" has suggested, you must have a DivX codec installed on your system...
