    Weirdness with Virtualdub and Xvid

I used Virtualdub to attach permanent subtitles to 2 different avi files on 2 seperate occasions with great ease and sucess. I wanted to do it again to try a different compression setting to try and eliminate some pixelation issues. Now I can't open any files due to a message..."couldn't locate decompressor for Xvid (unknown)...requires VFW codec...direct show codecs not suitable etc."

Why did it work yesterday and not today? I haven't modified anything

"couldn't locate decompressor for Xvid "

    try re-installing the xvid codec.

      Which were these - DivX-compressed or XviD-compressed?

They were Xvid compressed, both of them. That;'s why it's so weird that it didn't work yesterday. I don't actually ever remember d/loading an Xvid codec, just Divx. What I can't really figure out is what has changed.

I'll try d/loading the Xvid codec and see if that helps.

        Thanks for the speedy replies!!!

Ok, actually I noticed it didn't have DivX listed in the compression choices anymore so I removed and then re-installed DivX and that seemed to work...I should have thought of that, sorry.
