free> VSO divx to dvd or dvd2svcd are two of the better all-in-one converters IMO.

Since you were able to rip your DVD and convert it to an XviD, why don't you simply use DVD Shrink to compress the ripped DVD and copy it?

well their only two options and then i'll post which one works. haha! i'll dvd shrink first but i don't think that'll work cause its not a dvd rip i performed. its a dvd rip performed by someone else that i downloaded in Xvid form. i may try vso then maybe throw that into nero. again thanks everybody for the pointers.

I'm running the file through VSO DivXtoDvd. i hope it works, i see alot of video packets dropped due to error on frame. also delay of audio #0 = 24 mS.

next would i put it into nero? or dvd shrink or decrypter?

i've used the VSO software before and had trouble with audio delay and pixel freezes on screen, even though file plays perfectly on windows media player. sure am glad this forum exists for us newbies.

kay i ran my downloaded file through vso divxtodvd and got a small ts folder, like 6 files in all totaling 1.8 gigs. i know small for a feature length film.

then put it through nero to make a dvd. it didn't work. then put vso results through dvd shrink and decrypter , then through nero to burn dvd. again didn't work. when inserted into my home player it read: error wrong type of disc.

the disc plays great on pc using power dvd, i'm really stumped. when i put my cursor over the file it lists the movie as a video clip, but still yet vso converted it to ts files so shouldn't that work with nero now???
